About Fairmede, Santa Clara
Fairmede was developed in 1957 to compliment the earlier designed Mackay Mid-Century modern development on the otherside of Maywood Park, known as Maywood. It is comprised of all of Claremont and Gibson Avenues, along with Gibson Court, Elmhurst Court, as well as a few homes on Bennett and Mauricia Avenues. There is a mix of the four floor plans designed by the architecture firm Anshen + Allen. This includes the classic Mackay, otherwise known in the original development brochure as "The Belmont" and labeled plan M-3. This is floor plan that includes the enclosed patio area and is sometimes referred to as the "California Courtyard."
